DraftKings MLB: World Series Game 5 Breakdown

DraftKings MLB: World Series Game 5 Breakdown

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

We have a single-game Showdown on DraftKings for Sunday. After a wild finish to Game 4, the Rays and Dodgers will go right back at it in what is now a best-of-three series. On the mound, we get Game 1 starters of Clayton Kershaw versus Tyler Glasnow and both offer high strikeout upside. From a hitting perspective, the Dodgers were able to get to Glasnow in Game 1 and have generally been the more reliable source of production. Finding a way to fit in Kershaw plus some high upside bats appears to be quite challenging, but hopefully the addition of a value Rays' bat can help make it all work.

Captain

Cody Bellinger, LAD vs. TBR ($8,800) Captain ($13,200): While BvP isn't always a guarantee, it's hard to ignore the success Bellinger has achieved against Glasnow with three homers in only six at-bats. Coming in under $9,000 makes him a solid alternative if you can't work Kershaw into the Captain spot.

Utility

Clayton Kershaw, LAD vs. TBR ($11,600): While I think Kershaw represents a great Captain choice, it'll be tough to fit him in there and still grab some of the high-upside bats. However, the raw points he can provide makes him a must to get in somewhere whether it be the top spot or in the utility. Kershaw roasted Tampa Bay in Game 1 with eight strikeouts over six frames and securing the win on the way to a 29.7 fantasy point outing. He should achieve similar success here with the Rays striking out 11 per over the last four contests.

Mookie Betts, LAD vs. TBR ($9,800): Betts went 0-5 in Game 4, but I don't care - right back to the well, as they say. He boasts the highest upside of any bat and showcased that in Game 1 by racking up 31 fantasy points with multiple hits including a solo homer. Betts offers the ability to steal a bag with four already in this series, so he doesn't just need the long ball to produce big games as shown throughout his career.

Randy Arozarena, TBR vs. LAD ($9,200): The ALCS MVP has been by far the most trustworthy option when it comes to the Rays' hitters. Despite a couple mediocre performances to start the World Series, he's caught fire the last two by banging out back-to-back home runs and also scoring the winning run in the exciting finish to Game 4. Arozarena should be the first bat rostered in any Rays' stack or as a nice one-off run back play in a Dodgers' stack.

Kevin Kiermaier, TBR vs. LAD ($5,200): Despite batting in the bottom half of the order, Kiermaier has been delivering like a clean-up hitter. Bashing two home runs in the series - including one off Kershaw - he's proven to be a solid source of production throughout the playoffs and should be a key value in building optimal lineups at one of the cheaper salary points. Kiermaier's only drawback is a potential pinch-hit risk, but he should be able to pay off even in limited at-bats.
