Preseason Notes

Blake Griffin sits out with minor knee injury
– The Clippers are saying the injury is minor and Griffin could have played Sunday if it were a regular season game, so it doesn't sound like there's much to worry about. With the way he's been playing in the preseason, Griffin has a chance to be one of the best power forwards in the league right out of the gate. Hopefully he can fend of the Clippers' curse and stay healthy.

Dominic McGuire suffers left fracture of left shin – He's expected to miss six weeks. That means McGuire's playing time will drop by about six minutes per game for the next month and a half.

Gilbert Arenas sits out with a groin injury – After faking a knee problem last week to open up playing time for teammate Nick Young, Arenas now has a real injury. Karma.

Timofey Mozgov starts at center again – He's big. He's Russian. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni really likes the idea of him starting at the pivot.

Marcus Camby is the older, slightly healthier version of Greg Oden – Camby is doubtful for Monday's preseason tilt against Golden State due to a hip injury. The oft-injured big man has already missed time this preseason with a groin injury. This is why he's known as "Mr. Glass."

Tim Duncan is the best one-eyed power forward ever – Duncan logged 12 minutes of playing time in Saturday's exhibition after being poked in the eye. He still managed to post a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 11 boards in 15 minutes. The Spurs' big man joked after the game that he "only need one eye anyway."

Notable Performances

Linas Kleiza, TOR – 35:22 minutes, 23 points (9-of-15 FG, 3-of-6 3Pt, 2-of-3 FT), eight rebounds, four assists. This is the guy that will take over Hedo Turkoglu's vacant role from last season. But he'll do it much better.

Amir Johnson, TOR – 24:54 minutes, 17 points, 11 rebounds. Johnson was great while filling in for and injured Chris Bosh last season. In case you haven't heard, Bosh is now in Miami.

Toney Douglas, NY – 30:27 minutes, 23 points, three treys, four assists, two steals. He's probably going to be coming off the bench, but Nate Robinson was able to carve out some fantasy value while in a similar role with the Knicks.

Arron Afflalo, DEN – 41:33 minutes, 18 points, four three-pointers, four rebounds, four assists, two steals. Dude is playing like an All-Star this preseason. He's a great late-round dart.

Kevin Love, MIN – 27:23 minutes, 32 points, 13 rebounds, three (yep) three-pointers. Love will lead the league in rebounding and hit over one three per game this season. Fantasy awesomeness.
