Returning to Illinois
CIllinois
July 16, 2021
Cockburn withdrew from the transfer portal Friday and has elected to return to Illinois for the 2021-22 season, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After Cockburn withdrew his name from the 2021 NBA Draft earlier in the offseason, he still elected to keep his name in the portal to explore options elsewhere. He ultimately determined he was best off remaining in Champaign, where he could be featured even more heavily than a season ago now that backcourt standout Ayo Dosunmu has moved on to the professional ranks. Cockburn averaged 17.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game as a sophomore this past season.
