Stepping in against Chase Sherman
HeavyweightUFC
April 7, 2021
Arlovski (foot) will fight Chase Sherman in place of Parker Porter (undisclosed) at UFC Vegas 24 on April 17, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arlovski will have his six-month medical suspension, which he received after a loss via submission to Tom Aspinall back in February, lifted early. The 41-year-old has recorded a 3-2-0 record over his last five fights. Sherman is returning to the Octagon for the first time since receiving a suspension for banned substances last May.

May miss six months
HeavyweightUFC
February 23, 2021
Arlovski was handed a six-month medical suspension due to a right foot injury Tuesday, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arlovski suffered the injury during his submission loss against Tom Aspinall on Saturday. He'll be out until April 7 at a minimum and won't be able to return before late August unless cleared by an orthopedic doctor.
First submission loss since 2016
HeavyweightUFC
February 20, 2021
Arlovski lost to Tom Aspinall via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:09 of Round 2 at UFC Vegas 19 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Arlovski was able to weather the early storm of Aspinall in Round 1 but couldn't stuff Aspinall's takedown in the early part of the second round, which led to the rear-naked choke finish. Arlovski had not lost via submission since September 2016. It is unknown what Arlovski's status with the UFC will be after this fight.
Taking on Tom Aspinall
HeavyweightUFC
January 5, 2021
Arlovski will face Tom Aspinall in a heavyweight matchup scheduled for Feb. 20.
ANALYSIS
The 41-year-old's form has somewhat surprisingly seen his form take a turn for the better at the tail end of his career. He's won three of his last four matches following a stretch in which he'd won just two of his previous 11. In Aspinall, he'll face a fighter 14 years his junior who's fought just twice under the UFC banner, winning first-round TKO victories both times. Arlovski is likely to enter as a massive underdog for this matchup with his career winding down to a close. The up-and-comer represents a significant jump in quality of opponent compared to his last few fights.
First underdog to win Saturday
HeavyweightUFC
November 7, 2020
Arlovski defeated Tanner Boser via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC on ESPN+ 40 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Both men came out slow and looking to counter strike, but Arlovski took several minutes to land anything of note. He may have stolen the frame with a right hand towards the end, but Boser had more volume. Arlovski ate more outside low kicks throughout the second round, but did connect with a big right hand body shot. He finally took a big risk at the end of the second, landing a spinning backfist. It didn't seem to significantly affect Boser, but again, the late shot looked good for the judges. Arlovski kept absorbing leg kicks into Round 3, but perhaps changed momentum with a big right hand at roughly the midway point. He backed up Boser with another right hand with about a minute left, but didn't build much momentum from it. While Boser had accumulated more total strikes, the judges saw this for Arlovski, likely due to the few power shots he was able to land. It was by no means an exciting or encouraging fight for Arlovski, who basically said "no more wars" in his post-fight interview. Nonetheless, the results have been in his favor, as he's now won two fights in a row at the age of 41.
Boser matchup moves to November
HeavyweightUFC
September 15, 2020
Arlovski will face Tanner Boser in a heavyweight matchup at UFC Fight Night on November 7, James Lynch of MMANews.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The two were originally set to square off at Fight Island on October 3, but the bout has now been pushed back a month. Arlovski is coming off a win over Philipe Lins in May and has won two of his past three fights, but Boser should enter the matchup as the betting favorite.
